Philo Glow – Minimalist Leaf Art in Vibrant Orange and Green

from $50.00

Like many of us, I became obsessed with house plants during the pandemic. I found myself accumulating more and more, drawn to the varying shapes, sizes, and personalities of each one. My partner gifted me a giant philodendron, and it became my constant companion, sitting next to me through countless painting sessions.

When I began experimenting with oils, this plant seemed to practically scream "pick me! I'll be your muse!" So I did. I painted and repainted it until I felt it was truly done, emphasizing what I loved most about it – its nearly awkward appearance. It was an adolescent plant, aspiring to be something bigger and bolder, kind of like me when I was young.

The warm orange backdrop makes those deep green leaves appear to glow from within, celebrating both their structural grace and that particular gangly beauty of something still growing into itself. The bold contrast creates balance while honoring the plant's quiet power and natural rhythm.

This piece is a meditation on those in-between moments – when we're not quite where we're going but no longer where we were. It's about embracing your odd moments, the times when we're growing and maybe feeling a little awkward about it. Perfect for spaces that celebrate growth, transformation, and the beauty of becoming.
